Transcriptomic analysis reveals yolk accumulation mechanism from the hepatopancreas to ovary in the pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei

The Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei is an economically important penaeid species worldwide. Under farming conditions, the full ovarian maturation of L. generally depends on combination artificial ablation unilateral eyestalk and feeding high-quality natural diets, suggesting that nutrient accumulation to maturation. In this study, we aimed investigate gene expression related nutritional in during development by transcriptomic analysis. A total 52.45 Gb transcriptome data were obtained from 8 samples hepatopancreas ovaries gonadal developmental stages I-IV. 23,149 expressed genes detected, which 19,852 known 3,297 novel genes. Our study found amino acid, carbohydrate lipid metabolism at higher levels than ovary. for most lipoproteins their receptors predominantly hepatopancreas, while vitellogenin receptor ( VgR ) was specifically Moreover, two Vg identified, one defined as Hp-Vg , other ovary Ov-Vg . addition, carotenoid enriched hepatopancreas. This provides solid evidence major exogenous vitellogenesis site Two distinct perform endogenous respectively. results also presented some new insights understanding dynamics penaeids.
